I just had a lovely email from one of my beautiful brides, and just had to share it.
Creating your wedding dress with Jennifer is nothing like buying a dress of the rails. Having looked around many wedding dress shops in the North-West, I had really struggled and found the experience depressing and exhausting. I thought my ideas where simple but as they did not conform to the fashions of the moment, my ideal dress didn’t seem to exist. I found the staff in these shops unhelpful and unwelcoming; rather than listening to what I wanted, they simply tried to sell me what they had.
Meeting Jennifer was an entirely different experience. I love the ‘shoes off, cup of tea’ feel of her studio and being in her home gives that added personal touch. Most importantly I felt that Jennifer was listening to my wishes and this became quickly evident in her design for my dress, which was exactly like the picture I had in my head. Over the following dress fittings this became an ongoing creative process, tweaking the design and structure of the dress to best suit my figure and the overall look, using Jennifer’s expertise to know what would suit me best. Despite being bespoke the dress actually ended up cheaper than most ‘off-the-rail’ dresses because all alteration costs are included.
The final product was simply amazing; unique; well-fitting and exactly to our co-created specification. I genuinely felt like this was the best dress ever made, and in addition to this Jennifer made me feel like she had all the time in the world to make any adjustments that were needed, nothing seemed too much trouble. Our wedding day was perfect, everyone loved the dress and I felt really proud of what we had designed together, this would not have been possible without Jennifer. She takes much care and pride in her work, and this really shows. Don’t mess about with off-the-rail dresses, design your perfect dress with a girl who really knows what she’s doing.

We had a really enjoyable evening at David Frank in Lancaster on Tuesday,3rd of April, where we show cased some of our designs and ideas in a bridal evening and fashion show.
My Mum came up to me after the show and said…’beautiful!’ (as mums do!!) and then told me how lovely the burgandy dress would be in Ivory! She’s right of course, it would! Its so difficult to show every idea, in every colour and detail! There are so many ideas around, and each brides wants a different look, for her wedding day.
Being a designer is all about creating, for each different client, designing for there personality and making their wedding gown dreams come true! The brides who come to me want to make that individual statement, they want a gown which nobody else will have and which has their own personal ‘wow’ factor!
The gowns we show are just ideas, and show our workmanship and different colours and details. My brides all have their own ideas, which I turn into a reality for them and im proud to do so, and im proud to be part of their wedding day.

The following steps outline the special processes involved in Jennifer Pritchard Couchman creating a beautiful couture hand made gown.
When you make a appointment, you will personally meet with Jennifer, who will use her extensive couture Fashion and Textile background of over 15 years to advise on styles, fabrics, details and more. Jennifer will also discuss the brides aspirations for the gown, budget and timescales. Consultations are free and without obligation. Prices for a couture made-to-measure wedding dress start from £1,200.
At a second consultation, Jennifer will present a portfolio of original hand-drawn sketches, featuring a wide range of design suggestions, along with recommended fabric swatches of the finest fabrics, silks and laces. The designs are exclusive to each individual bride, whilst reflecting Jennifer’s signature style.
At this appointment, Jennifer will take all body measurements and posture renditions. This information will be used to draft a working paper patterns, from which a calico toile will be made for the first Toile fitting.
The first calico toile is a mock-up of the dress, and is used to ensure the most accurate fit, this ensures the final gown is as flattering as possible. Only once the toile, and paper patterns are perfected, can the fabric be cut, and construction of the gown commenced.
During a number of private fittings with Jennifer, brides can see their gown come to life. These fittings ensure the gown is created and fits to the highest possible standards. These fittings also give the bride an opportunity to make any changes or amendments to the gown. A final check fitting is arranged as close to the wedding date as possible.
During the fittings, Jennifer welcomes family and friends to experience the excitement of your bridal gown’s creation. Evening appointments can be arranged on request.
